Dear WSM & WSA Families,
This spring the preschool was planning to have a cash drive, donating the money collected to the Heifer project. We have been raising money for the Heifer Project for many years and while the Heifer Project is an amazing organization, we have decided to change our focus this time. With the catastrophic earthquakes in Haiti affecting so many, we are going to use the annual drive to raise money for Haiti Relief.
One of the great premises of the Heifer Project is the idea of ‘change for change.’ We will continue this idea for our Haiti Relief Fund drive. Donate your spare change. Every penny will be counted. Look for change in those out of the way places – in the sofa, under the sofa, in the car, etc. In past years, we have had donors that will match a day’s (or week’s, or total) collection. We hope this will continue this year.
Please help us with this event if you can. It is a good way for our children to practice compassion for those in need. It can also be an opportunity to practice sorting and counting coins!
Donations can be sent in immediately, and we will continue the drive until February 12, 2010. Checks can be made out to UNICEF.
